Summer Camp at Bucoco, for a while
Lately, I've been bored off my ass. So I decided...
Maybe I should go to Camp Bucoco with the Boy Scouts for half a week, as an adult leader.
So that's exactly what I did.
Since 1997, I have gone to Boy Scout Summer Camp, Most years at Camp Bucoco, except in 1999, when we went to Custaloga town, and in 2002, when we went to Heritage Resorvation.
Anyhow, Camp Bucoco, located in Slippery Rock, PA is where we went this year. THere, the Scouts work towards earning merit badges, in areas of crafts, aquatics, nature, scoutcraft, shooting, and first aid. They can also work towards other awards, do community service, and many other things.
Ok, I'm blabbering. On Sunday, we arrived, and we got checked in. Then we got into swimsuits and went to the pool to take the swimming test. This test determines our ability to swim, and what level we are. You have to be a "Swimmer" to do any aquatic activies. Anyhow, most scouts became swimmers.
Later we set up camp. The older adults gave me the responsibility to help scouts and adults earn the Green Oak leaf award. this was a relitivly simple award to earn with most requirements be regular camp activities anyway.
So, as the week progressed, I also led some of the scouts in a skit, the Lighthouse skit. I won't go into the details of it, but a guy leads others up and down the steps of a tall lighthouse repeatedly untill the end when he mentions that there is an elevator. Me also managed to poke fun at the camp director, Daniel T. Brown, who was mad at me for not saying "Hi" to him at the Mancinis. Hell, I didn't even know he was there. Sorry Daniel Tee.
On Wednesday night I went home, only to come back on Friday night to help pack up. Then on Saturday, we left and went home.
So, I wasn't bored, this past week. Tonight I'm going to the St. Gregory Lawn Fete. Hope to win some prizes there.
