What's the play?
For weeks, Mrs. Zak would not announce what musical will be done this year, even when audition time rolled around. So, I thought, "Gee I'm auditioning for a musical, and I don't even know what it is." There were some ideas floating around. James Getchell thought we were doing "Oklahoma" My dad thought we were doing "Little Shop of Horrors".
But both were wrong.
At auditions, Director Laura Yoerg, told me that the show was going to be either "Mame", "Into the Woods", or "The Sound of Music". Later on, at call-backs she said that "Into the Woods" won. Then parts were cast. I thought I'd be playing the Mysterious Man, but I will be playing the Wolf. Aaron Boyt got the part of the Mysterious Man. I was sort of disappointed, after watching the video. While the Wolf does have a great solo song, he's killed 10 minutes into the show. Oh well, that's how it goes.
After this show, my theatre days are over.
