Camp Weekend: Open House

This wasn't actually a camp weekend, but a preparation for an Open House on Sunday. And it was also a "Get to Know you day" for new and old staff.

Anyhow, there were two new staff to meet there. One was the former camper turned CIT, Fred Eck. He's staff now, so I can mention him. The other was a guy named Zach Hill, who's from Blackhawk. Seems really nice. Deb, Nicole and Jess showed up too.

We prepared food for the upcoming open house. Then Raeann took us on a cart tour of the whole camp, and we warmed up in the Kon-o-Kwee Dining hall. It was cold and rainy today. Laurie then showed up, and we greeted her.

Then we went out to eat at Quaker Steak and Lube. We had wings.

On the way back to camp, I took Deb, Zach amd Fred, the scenic way, by my house.

Finally we played a Gestures. A two-secong charades game. I'll never forget Marc's enactment of "nightmare" and "Left-handed"

Mitch showed up in the middle of the night. Chisten and Andrea showed up later on Sunday Morning. I was told some interesting stuff. For example, Chisten, is going to be a lifeguard this year. And also two old-time counselors, who took the summer of 2004 off, were coming back as a married couple. Also Val, from Kazackistan is coming back with two new foreign girls.

So, the open house came. Lots of campers with their families showed up, and the open house went really well.

Neat!

Summer 2005 is coming fast. I look forward to it.

Well, untill next time.

Quigley's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"

Tonight, my mother and I saw Quigley's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"

It was really good. Nick Bell gave a fantastic performance as Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob. The pther brothers were good too. They had some good dance moves, espically with their wives.

Also, there were six narrators in the show, due to the number of girls, and the lack of girl's parts in the show.

During Intermission, my mother and I greeted Laura Yoerg and Mrs. Zak. I also saw high school cast mate Loren Pollock, who had been in all three Quigley shows with me, but graduated a year after I did. We said "Hi."

There was even a "Phantom of the Opera" cameo, during Joseph's flight to Egypt.

Nice.

Like I said before. RMU is doing "Joseph" next fall. I just hope there's enough guys. Or a few girls might end up playing brothers.

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"/ Quigley's Joseph Rehearsal

Tonight, I went on a little night out.

First, I ate dinner at City Diner, in Rochester. Then I stopped at Giant Eagle in Baden, and bought balloons. Then I went to RMU to see their show "One Flew over Cuckoo's Nest"

Actually I was an usher tonight. I showed up early to deliver the balloons before Jeopardy Mike got there. Despite my early arrival, I was too late. But I still gave him the balloons; he already had a bunch in the dressing room.

As I collected tickets, people asked me "Why aren't you in the show?" I just said "I was tired, and that I needed a break."

The show I saw was good. It turns out John Locke and Emily Kosloff, took over the directiong after Alvita Martin-Friar's passing. But it was still her vision. i enjoyed it. The cast did a wonderful job.

The next day I walked into the Baden Burger King, and saw the cast of Quigley's "Joseph". That was no accident though. I was hoping to find them there, during lunch break from play practice. So,I ate with them, and they talked about the show. Then Ryan Carroll, said "Oh no one's working on my costume. Everybody hates me." I said "Nonsense. I never hated you. Except when you hit on Laura Fischer."

Nice.

Then we went up to Quigley, and I watched them rehearse. They did well.

By the way, a little FYI, RMU is going to be doing Joseph next fall.

Anyhow, Quigley's show is in a few weeks. My mother and I are both going to see it.

A "Date" at Mystic Bay

Tonight I tutored Nicole at Mystic Bay Restaurant, in Beaver Valley Mall.

I was nervous about this. Nicole is engaged to a part-time counselor Jared Holiday, who seemed upset about this. I think, or at least hope, he's playing around eith me though.

Mystic Bay was a very romantic atomsphere. there was a man singing onstage, and little walls with bubbles on them. So we ate, talked, and worked on Praxis II problems.

The Praxis II problems, are generally Algebran and Geometry, but in a fancy sort of way. The problems are dressed up. So Nicole and I worked and had a good time.

I hope Jared isn't angry at me. It was just business (sort of). Well, they're getting married in August, after camp.

Cya later.

Camp Weekend: Kid Dances and Praxis Tutoring.

This weekend was the first kids weekend this year. It went well.

Marc, on the other hand, I think had a hard time, because of one kid, roughing him up.

We had a two dances this weekend, one on each night, and the kids enjoyed them.
One of the older kids, said, he's going to be a staff member, this summer, as a janitor/CIT.

Cool!

Nicole was busy preparing for her Praxis II, and asked me to help her. We made some progress, but she wanted to meet me again. It will be some time this week...

So, despite the one kid needing a counselor to lay down with him, this wasn't a bad weekend.
